Josh and Abbie McCullough’s daughter, Ann Briggs, was stillborn at 35 weeks on November 6, 2007.
After her passing, alumnae members of Phi Mu Sorority from Auburn University launched the Ann Briggs McCullough Memorial Book Drive to honor her and the McCullough family. The Book Drive received support from many people across the city, state and country. After its overwhelming success, the McCulloughs established the Ann Briggs Memorial Book Endowment at USA Children's & Women's Hospital, so that her legacy may live on by touching the lives of children and families in the hospital through the gift of literature.
The McCulloughs hold the book drive annually in November for the University of South Alabama’s Children’s & Women’s Hospital and Pediatric Associates of Mobile. To date over 6,000 books have been donated in memory of Ann Briggs, each bearing a book label with her name.
It is the hope of the McCulloughs for every child to have a book of their very own.
